Work at Home Site #1: Write Articles and Get Paid

22 Oct

When I first started working online a few years back, I wrote articles and got paid for it. I was new to online freelancing and was receiving $1 an article then (ouch! I know, that’s pretty cheap). Because I didn’t know better I continued writing for that rate  for a few months. Then, I thought that the quality of my articles didn’t really deserve the $1 rate, so I scoured writing opportunities online.

I came across a site that paid writers instantly through their PayPal account once they reached their payment threshold. I loved the instant payment part so I signed up with them. I got approved after sending in a trial article. Today, the process of getting accepted to the site is much different. You just have to sign up (free, of course) and then you can start getting assignments from their bulletin board.

The site’s name is When you first start out, you will only have a quota of 2 articles. This means that you have to finish 2 articles before getting another set of 2 articles to write on, etc. You can ask for a quota increase if you want to increase the number of articles to work on per set, but I suggest doing this when you have an established relationship with them already.

You can get as much as $6.60 per assignment, which would take about an hour to an hour and a half to complete. So, if you work 5 hours a day, you are paid approximately $30 for that. The payment depends on the number of words too, so the higher the word count, the higher the payment rate is.

They also have an excellent support team and help guide so if you find yourself wondering what to do next after your application, you won’t be lost. Article guidelines are also set for each article assignment. Payment is made through Paypal/Payoneer every Tuesday and Friday. To further inspire you to write, they have a guide on how to earn $300/week (roughly, 12,000 pesos, and that’s per week!)

One important thing to remember is the deadline for the article you are working on. Deadlines are posted along with the article details so you know when they are due. TIP: If you want to succeed as an online article writer, then you must meet your deadlines. Their system will remind you though if your deadline is nearing and if you don’t do anything about it and miss your deadline, your article will be assigned to another writer. Missing several deadlines will reduce your article quota and will lead to the suspension of your account. If you cannot submit an article on time due to acceptable reasons, be sure to let their support team know so they can extend your deadlines a bit.

What I like about is the fact that they have work available all throughout the week, so there’s no need for you to wait for your next assignment. They also accept writers from different countries as long as you have good command of the English language.

If you want to jumpstart your online writing career, you can sign up as a writer here.

    Hi Jan,

I’ve visited and they only accept native English speaking writers.

Any suggestions on how to get in?

      Hi Jesus,

Just try applying. They are in need of a lot of writers and as long as you can write well, the native English speaking requirement is disregarded. Good Luck!

        Hello Jan,

I tried to apply ignoring the native speaker requirement however in the next step which is the confirmation, it says there that “your account will be deleted if you are not a native speaker” LOL.

          Hi Irene,

That’s just a notice. I’ve known other non-Native English speakers who have successfully signed up on the site. As long as you know you can write excellent English, then you can just ignore that note.

          Happy earning!

    Hi Jan,

Are the niches of the topics/articles varied?

      Hi Christille,

Yes, they are. Try applying for an account so you can see the topics in their bulletin board. Just ignore the Native Speaker requirement. As long as you know you can write in excellent English, your application will not be flagged.

      Happy earning!
